Sometime back, our pal Brian at Litho Shop blogged the Apathetic Ink Knife. We reblogged it and many of you did as well.

For all the brawn built in into the Vandercook presses, it’s easy to forget that they were originally built with rosewood bushings on the drive cylinder.
Yup, wood.
We just pulled these two from our SP25 and got all excited that we’d found or own set, but after a little more grime was pulled off, realized they were cast resin, not wood. One above is pretty clean but the other has a healthy layer of dried ink.
They’ll get a quick shine and then go back to work spinning smoothly next week.
